ABOUT US
A Legacy of Forest Stewardship
New River Hardwoods traces its roots to a rich and respected history of forest stewardship. Long before entering the industry as a lumber producer, our predecessor affiliates were actively managing some of the finest timberland in the world.
Professional silvicultural stewardship of this resource dates back to the early twentieth century and includes one of the first tree farms in central Appalachia. This early commitment to sustainable forest management established a tradition that continues to guide us today.
From Modest Beginnings to Industry Leader
New River Hardwoods began lumber production in 1991, producing approximately three million board feet of hardwood lumber in its first year of operation.
Through continued investment, innovation, and adaptation to a changing global marketplace, the company steadily expanded. Today, we are firmly established in the Appalachian Mountains of Eastern Tennessee, Western North Carolina, and Western Virginia, with annual production capacity exceeding 30 million board feet of high-quality hardwood lumber.
