The sawmill at Mountain City, Tennessee is located in the high elevations of the Appalachian Mountains. This area traversed by the famous Appalachian Trail is known for its high quality slow growing forests and produces some of the best quality timber in North America. The mill is fully integrated and incorporates state of the art technology including ring debarker, 3-D scanning headrig and double cut linear carriage, band re-saw, thin kerf gang saw, optimized edger, optimized grade mark scanner controlled trimmer and automatic lumber sorting system.

We have 8 SII Dry Kilns running 50,000 board feet each for a total drying capacity of 400,000 board feet. These sustainable kilns are powered by a boiler which runs exclusively on green sawdust from our sawmills.

The millworks operation allows New River Hardwoods to provide our customers with a superb finished product. Utilizing state-of-the-art machines including our planer, moulder, and sander, we are able to provide a fully surfaced product to be directly assembled into consumer products.

Our Cumberland Gap sawmill is situated just a few miles from the historic Cumberland Gap National Historical Park at the foot of the Cumberland Mountains. This ideal location allows us to sustainably utilize the high quality timber resources from Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The sawmill operates a Cleereman carriage with 3-D scanning and circular head-saw, West Plains resaw system, and American Built Machinery Edger.

Our Roan Mountain Sawmill is situated in beautiful Carter County, Tennessee just miles from Roan Mountain State Park and the North Carolina border. The sawmill includes a Cleereman 3-D scanning carriage and band head rig, a West Plains systems resaw, a McDonough opti-fit edger, and Paw Taw controlled trimsaw.
